The benefits of Audio Transfer
Even though there are millions of songs that you can find and download
online there are still a lot of benefits to using audio transfer to put your own records and cds onto your
computer or onto a protected website.
You can hire a professional to put all of your old vinyl record, cassettes
and CDs on your computer as audio files or you can get audio transfer software and do it yourself at home if you
have turntables and a cassette player.
Since so many songs are already available on mp3 some people might be
wondering if it’s worth it to go through all that trouble just to copy your old records, cassettes and
CDs to the
computer.
It’s worth it. Even though there are a lot of
songs by a lot of artists that are available online as mp3s any records or cassettes that are specialty items,
promos, singles and other rare recordings usually are not, especially if they are by semi-obscure
artists.
Some of those songs will be out of print and not
available anymore, so using audio transfer will be the only way to get them onto computer. This is quite
frequently for one off recordings like live concert recordings, or single songs that later on were taken off the
market due to sampling issues, copyright infringement or other problems. When that happens even if the original recording is re-released it
probably will not have that song on it.
DJs and other audiophiles already know the joy of
collecting rare and hard to find pieces of music and have huge collections of hard to find music and recordings.
Putting all of those on the computer or on a special hard drive not only will make it easier to listen to the
recordings it’s also excellent protection for those valued pieces of music. If they are on computer you can listen to your favorite out of print 12”
single without having to worry about scratching it or you can listen to that mix tape that your crush made you
in the 10thgrade without having to worry about breaking it. And, if the recordings are ever lost, stolen or damaged you will have a
backup copy of the audio on your computer thanks to audio transfer.
Audio transfer isn’t just for audiophiles. If you
have a lot of recordings of the band that you had in high school, or your kids first church chorus choir, or
other important memories then putting those on a computer as audio files will make sure that you have those
mementos for many years to come. If you have a large music collection or if you have a lot of meaningful, rare
and out of print music and recordings that you want to have forever then you should definitely consider audio
transfer as a way to preserve those recordings.
Eventually records break, cassettes fail, even CDs
get scratched or melt. But an audio file stored on
your hard drive or hosted on a protected Website will be there forever so that you can listen to it whenever you
want and so that you can share it with your friends and family.
